Donald defends Honda title at new venue

(AP) -- The PGA Tour is leaving the FedEx Cup just as it is with the playoff schedule and points system.

Rick George, chief of operations for the PGA Tour, said any adjustment to the points system was not on the agenda and not discussed at a policy board meeting earlier this week.

"We think the FedEx Cup did a lot of positive things and met the objectives we set for it," George said Tuesday. "We don't anticipate it changing."

Barron first to violate PGA drug policy

SHANGHAI (AP) Doug Barron, a 40-year-old journeyman who lost his tour card three years ago, became the first player to be suspended by the PGA Tour for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

Wadkins, Olazabal enter Hall of Fame

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) Lanny Wadkins, Jose Maria Olazabal and Christy O'Connor Sr. were inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame on Monday night, a reward for hundreds of international victories and stellar performances under intense pressure in the Ryder Cup.

Joining them posthumously was President Dwight Eisenhower, whose love of golf has been credited for a surge in interest in the game while he was in office from 1952-1960. The number of people who took up golf in those years more than doubled, and golf historians credit a good portion of that surge to Eisenhower's visibility in playing the sport. Read More...

Compton receives exemption into Disney

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) Erik Compton, the golfer with two heart transplants, has received another exemption into the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Disney next week.

Compton also received an exemption last year and tied for 60th. He was allowed to ride in a cart, just five months after his second transplant. Tournament chairman Kevin Weickel says Compton will be walking this year. Read More...
