Analysis: Arrington, a seventh-round draft choice out of Michigan, had impressed coaches throughout the spring and summer, but severely sprained his toe during New Orleans' opening preseason game at Arizona. He hadn't played since and coaches were uncertain how long it would take for him to recover enough to compete for playing time on a team already deep in receiving talent. The move means Arrington won't play this season.

Analysis: The 6-foot-3, 192-pound Arrington had been making a strong case for a roster spot since his selection in the seventh round of the draft. He had two catches for 46 yards, including a 33-yarder, during the Saints' 24-10 preseason victory at Arizona last Thursday.
