Seattle coach Jim Mora said Hasselbeck "was a little bit beat up, like what happens to a lot of quarterbacks in this league" after playing all of last weekend's 38-17 loss at Dallas.
Analysis: He was crumpled on the turf after a hit in the third quarter but finished the game. Seneca Wallace ran the first-team offense Wednesday. Wallace lost both games he started when Hasselbeck was out from the ribs broken Sept. 20 at San Francisco. Doctors had estimated this to be the final week in the usual recovery time for Hasselbeck's injury, but that's under normal circumstances.

Analysis: Late to the field before the game and after halftime while taking painkilling injections for his broken ribs, Hasselbeck looked strong. He last threw for four touchdowns against Arizona on Dec. 9, 2007. He has seven touchdown passes in the two games in which he's been completely healthy this season. Those are the only two games Seattle has won. Next Sunday, Seattle hosts Arizona, which is last in the league against the pass, allowing an average of 303.0 yards per game.

It's his first work since he broke a rib Sept. 20 on a dive for the goal line at San Francisco. The team officially listed him as limited on the daily practice report it filed to the league. Hasselbeck took the majority of snaps with the first-team offense, with backup Seneca Wallace left with only a few.

Seattle coach Jim Mora confirmed Monday that Hasselbeck has a fractured rib from a hard hit in the back by 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis while the quarterback dived for the goal line late in the first half of San Francisco's 23-10 win on Sunday.
Analysis: Asked if he had to plan to face the Bears without Hasselbeck, Mora said, "Right now, we'll probably do that - unless we get word otherwise." However, Mora did say Hasselbeck "seems to be doing a lot better today.'' ¶ Hasselbeck, who turns 34 on Friday, said the fracture is on the back of a top rib and that the pain is near the shoulder. He said he broke a rib once before and played the next game. Seneca Wallace will likely start if Hasselbeck can't go.

Analysis: Hasselbeck missed the most games (nine) of his career in 2008. He did not play again following a crunching hit from Dallas' DeMarcus Ware on Thanksgiving Day. Doctors told him his rested body should heal itself by the end of January and it apparently did, as Hasselbeck did not need surgery.

Analysis: Hasselbeck missed nine games last season with a bulging disk in his back. In October, a specialist told the 33-year-old quarterback that if nothing else happened to his back he should be fine by February and would not need surgery.
